Forged SS 410

What is SS 410?

SS 410, also referred to as AISI 410 or UNS S41000, is a martensitic stainless steel grade that offers a combination of high strength, hardness, and moderate corrosion resistance. Unlike austenitic grades, SS 410 can be hardened through heat treatment, making it ideal for applications requiring wear resistance and mechanical strength.

Forged SS 410 is widely used in the manufacture of pump shafts, fasteners, valve components, and tools. Its mechanical performance, combined with good resistance to atmospheric and mild chemical environments, makes it a preferred choice in industrial, automotive, and engineering applications.

Frequently Asked Questions

Explore our FAQs for insights on materials, customization, and delivery.
Can SS 410 be hardened?
Yes, SS 410 can be hardened through heat treatment, offering high mechanical strength and surface hardness.
Is SS 410 corrosion-resistant like SS 304 or SS 316?
SS 410 provides moderate corrosion resistance but is not as resistant as austenitic grades like SS 304 or SS 316. It is best used in dry or mildly corrosive environments.
What forging temperature range is ideal for SS 410?
SS 410 should be forged between 1100°C and 1200°C, followed by slow cooling and optional tempering.
Is SS 410 magnetic?
Yes, SS 410 is magnetic in all conditions, even after annealing or heat treatment.
